Interdisciplinary
Research
This research addresses how
the biomedical and social sciences and the humanities can interact with one another
in research public policy. One way to study the social context of science is
by comparing the substance of its progress with its profile in the mass media
and in Congressionally mandated funding. Dr.
Adelman is leading this research
at the Institute and is currently tabulating the further disproportion between
the substance of that scientific community and the social impact of aging and
disease measured by content analysis of the written news media.
