Research

The Institute of Gerontology (IoG) is home to a world-class faculty whose research interests range from the social and economic to the molecular and biological changes that occur in an aging population. While diverse in their own disciplines, the IoG faculty are committed to pursuing interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary research projects that look at the changes of aging from all aspects. The commitment to pursue this type of research is what makes the IoG one of the leading research Institutes in this country.

The research currently being undertaken by the Institute's faculty can be grouped into five areas of interest. Biological - focusing on the biochemical processes and their relationship to aging; Clinical - focusing on a diverse research agenda on the interplay between aging and disease; Interdisciplinary - address how the biomedical and social sciences and the humanities can interact with one another in research public policy; Methodology - statisticians and methodologists whose innovative work continues to enhance statistical analyses; and Social - whose main focus of research is on the social, economic, and health care delivery issues of an aging population
